Iowa Cubs head groundskeeper Chris Schlosser — whose duties include getting Principal Park ready for 28 games in eight days during the high school state tournament — has been named the Pacific Coast League's Sports Turf Manager of the Year for the 2010 season.

An undefeated champion. A champion who led the state rankings from start to finish. A champion in its first state tournament appearance. A champion in its 12th appearance and after three runner-up finishes. Those were the winners — Martensdale-St. Marys (1A), Solon (2A), Glenwood (3A) and Cedar Rapids Kennedy (4A) — in the 2010 Iowa high school state baseball tournament at Principal Park. Also: A grand slam and a triple play. Five one-run games and two extra-inning games. Upsets: Only one top-seeded team made it to the finals. And blowouts: Class 4A winners outscored their opponents 76-12. Attendance totaled 30,448 — the fourth-best in tournament history. [Class 1A-2A sessions had a larger total than 3A-4A sessions.] It was quite a week.
