Five extra-innings games. Five one-run games. A perfect game. Perfect weather. Big crowds. The 2009 high school state tournament had something for everyone. Mason City Newman Catholic (1A), Fort Dodge St. Edmond (2A), Norwalk (3A) and Sioux City North (4A) won state championships at Principal Park on August 1, capping eight days of great baseball. There were 664 baseballs used during the 2009 state tournament. And most of them went home with fans. For the fourth straight year, fans could keep foul balls hit into the stands during games. Iowa Network Services is the official foul ball sponsor of the tournament. Their support of high school baseball makes it possible for fans to keep a great souvenir of the state tournament.
