The state tournament is scheduled for Principal Park through the 2020 season. Future tentative dates are: 2013 — July 26-27, 29-August 3 2014 — July 25-26, 28-August 2 2015 — July 24-25, 27-August 1
Tyler Peyton tossed seven shutout innings and went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI from the dish to lift Dallas Center Grimes to its first state championship title, defeating Decorah 13-0 at Principal Park on Saturday. Dallas Center-Grimes jumped on the board with two runs in the third inning. Dynas Doud laced a RBI-single to left field scoring Jared Kramer for the first run. Doud then came around to score two batters later on Michael Foggia’s groundout to short. The Mustangs added two more runs in the fourth inning. Jake Lewis knocked in Justin Carlyle with a base hit to left and came around to score on Jared Kramer’s double. Dallas Center-Grimes put together a four-run fifth inning led by Kramer’s two-run single up the middle. Carlyle and Nick Drucker also drove in runs for the Mustangs. The Mustangs added one run in the sixth and four more in the seventh. Peyton (10-0) allowed four hits and struck out 13 batters to earn the win. Vikings’ starter Blake Moen (6-2) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits in 3.1 innings and suffered the loss.
